A solar panel is a module of photovoltaic cells assembled and packaged as a single unit with a glass covering and a frame. Solar panels are one part of an electricity generating system. To create a stand-alone 12v power supply you will also need a solar regulator and a batteryto store the power. If you intend running AC appliances then you will also need an inverter between your battery and the appliance.
